Police dog Rex got severe injuries on a line of duty.
When REX entered the scene, a Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department deputies said, the suspect stabbed the K-9 in the back and hit him in the head with the bat.
REX will undergo multiple tests due to potential serious trauma from both the knife and bat, according to BCSO.
